During a day trip to Anacapa Island off the coast of Southern California, we went hiking across the island and learned that we were there in the middle of the Sea Gull mating season. I came across this Sea Gull protecting its young, which is safely tucked just under the right wing.

Thanks, Bob and Nancy. They were vocal in the morning whenever people would walk by and got a little more aggressive with a few "fly-by's" in the afternoon. Pretty cool thing to see, though.
